What We Do

In Nicaragua, from Save the Children we are carrying out the Strategic Plan 2016 – 2018. This plan is derivative from the new global strategy “Ambition for Children 2013”, which represents a unique opportunity for this generation to reimagine the world we want for children, to eradicate poverty and to leave no child behind.

We have in our hands the opportunity to ensure a better path for Nicaraguan and world childhood, changing our vision towards an equitable progress for 2013, closing the gaps of social inequality and making sure that the most deprived people and children are the first to receive the benefits of progress to which all the population is entitled.

All of our programs worldwide will contribute to achieve three breakthroughs:

  • Survive,no child under age 5 dies due to preventable causes
  • Learn, all children learn through a quality basic education
  • Be protected, violence towards children is no longer tolerated.

What we are suggesting is ambitious, but well focused and aligned with national, regional and international programs. In order to make the long-lasting and effective impact that we want, all programs will contribute to achieve these three breakthroughs, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.

With this strategy, from Save the Children, we work through six areas in Nicaragua:

  • Protection
  • Child Rights Governance
  • Education
  • Health and Nutrition
  • Child Poverty
  • Humanitarian Response
